Lost Pokemon of the Day: Spiky-eared Pichu
While not technically a "Lost Pokemon" in the traditional sense, Spiky-eared Pichu was exclusive to HeartGold & SoulSilver, and couldn't be traded into future generations... Meaning she's stuck in Gen 4 *forever.*

The original Kingdra used in Gold & Silver's 1997 demo looked much more like a Water/Dragon type than its final design. Maybe someday it could be a regional form.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Deer
First revealed in the Japan-exclusive 2018 manga "Satoshi Tajiri: The Man Who Created Pokemon," Deer was originally created for use in Gen 1... but he got cut during development.

With a beta sprite dating back to 1990, Lickitung was one of the earliest Pokemon ever created. But it changed a bit in Gen 1's development... especially the tongue.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Primal Dialga
While not technically a "Lost Pokemon" in the traditional sense, Primal Dialga's been missing from the Pokemon series since 2009. What's more, he's never appeared in a mainline game -- only in spinoffs, anime, & manga.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Murkrow was originally much more obviously based on a witch. But its pointy hat and broom-like tail ended up getting dialed back.

Gastly was created around 1990, but he didn't look like the Gastly we know today until around 1995 -- his beta sprite and Red, Green, & Blue sprites reveal what he USED to look like.

Beta Mime Jr:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Mime Jr was originally pure Normal-type and named Baririina. He was cut from Gen 2, but returned in Gen 4 with a new name and design.

First revealed when Gold & Silver's 1997 demo leaked in 2018, Kurusu was originally meant as Gen 2's Water starter, but was later scrapped and replaced with Totodile.
