A new leak of Gen 4 beta sprites dropped yesterday, revealing early designs for about a dozen Sinnoh Pokemon, including Gible. See my previous tweet for the whole Garchomp family.

Placeholder Arceus:
Some Diamond & Pearl beta sprites leaked yesterday, including a placeholder sprite for Arceus (pictured left). @CaptainPiika made this artwork for Spear Pillar, imagining a parallel universe where the placeholder ended up as Arceus' final design. Lolz.
Lost Pokemon of the Day: Litwick pre-evolution
Lead Pokemon designer Ken Sugimori revealed in a recently-translated 2011 interview that Litwick originally had a Flame pre-evolution... but it got cut during Black & White's development.

Beta Gligar:
Just 5 months before Gold & Silver released in Japan, Gligar's beta sprite was red and had six arms. But Gligar's design ended up getting changed for Gold & Silver's final build.

Beta Wooper:
In Gold & Silver's 1999 demo, Wooper's original design was... pretty different. Gold & Silver launched just three months later, at which point Wooper was completely redesigned.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Elephant
Revealed by Game Freak in 2018, this Elephant Pokemon was originally created during Gen 1's development. He ended up getting cut, but a possible reference still exists in the game -- Raichu's Japanese Pokédex entry.

Golbat's Lost Tongue:
Golbat's Red & Blue sprite had a huge drooling tongue, which could also be seen in his Pokemon Stadium model. However, his tongue was never seen again after Battle Revolution in 2006.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Zubat's pre-evolution
First revealed when Gen 1 beta assets leaked in Feb 2019, this Pokemon was originally planned as the Zubat family's first stage -- but he got scrapped before release.

Beta Grimer:
With an index number of #13, Grimer was one of the earliest Pokemon ever created. The biggest changes in development was the addition of fingers, and his new personality.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Honooguma family
First revealed when Gold & Silver's 1997 demo leaked in 2018, Honooguma was originally planned as Gen 2's Fire starter... but in development, he got replaced by Cyndaquil.
