In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Cleffa's original design was much truer to the lore of the Clefairy family, actually looking like a Pokemon that came from the moon.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Barunda
First revealed in the 2018 Japanese manga about the lifestory of Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri, Barunda was created during Gen 1's development... but didn't make the final cut.

@expsharepod This is maybe a better comparison actually, Ditto's demo sprites normal and Shiny, compared to his Gold sprites normal and Shiny.
Beta Leafeon:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Leafeon's original Japanese name was Riifi (Leafy). He got cut from Gen 2, but eventually returned with a new name & design in Gen 4.

Beta Pichu:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Pichu was a ball that evolved at level 12. But Pichu was redesigned for G&S's final build, and revised to evolving via happiness.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: the Ikari family
First revealed when Gold & Silver's 1997 demo leaked in 2018, this three-stage Water/Steel family was created for Gen 2, but tragically, didn't make Johto's final cut.

Pokemon: Only in Japan
This artwork was included in the New Hoenn Art Book, a 32 page publication gifted to Japanese fans who pre-ordered Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. But sadly for those us living outside Japan, the New Hoenn Art Book was never made available internationally.
Beta Scizor:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Scizor was originally Bug/Flying type and evolved at level 41. But he was later revised to Bug/Steel and evolving via Metal Coat.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Crocky
First officially revealed by Game Freak in 2018, Crocky is one of the series' oldest Lost Pokemon -- he was created in the early 90's, but thrown out before Gen 1 was finished.
