Lost Pokemon of the Week:
These beta sprites for the original Weedle family were first revealed on Game Freak's official Japanese website in 1997. Although Weedle itself was pretty similar to its final design, its evolutions were completely different.

Beta Celebi:
In Gold & Silver's 1999 demo, Celebi had a Native American motif, was Normal instead of Grass/Psychic, and classified as the "Plant Pokemon" instead of the "Time Travel Pokemon."

Lost Pokemon of the Week:
In a 2011 Japanese magazine interview with Ken Sugimori, he said the Petilil family was originally designed with 3 stages... but one stage got cut because Gen 5 already had too many Grass-type Pokemon.

Legendary Origins:
I recently wrote a video covering Lugia's development history: https://t.co/dE8aQzWfan
I'm thinkin about doing one more origin story based on some leaks and Japanese interviews I found recently. Which would you rather see -- Mew's origin story, or Celebi's?
BotW Behind the Scenes:
Check out this new 20min video I wrote, with lots of new developer translations & prototype info. Highlights include Tarrey Town's original and more ambitious concept, scrapped items, and the origins of the Champion's Tunic. Link: https://t.co/0BPGYOH9Zn
Beta Garchomp:
2020's Diamond & Pearl beta sprite leak revealed a strange Garchomp design from early in development. Hmmm... I wonder if the remakes are gonna feature any new regional forms?

Beta Tangrowth:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Tangela had an evolution named Jaranra. He was cut from Gen 2, but he finally returned in Gen 4 -- but with a new name and new design.

Beta Escavalier:
According to Sugimori, Escavalier's original design wore armor -- but his team scrapped it when they came up with the idea of stealing Shelmet's shell. Unfortunately, he never showed that design... so we can only speculate. @HiResPokemon made this wild guess :)
