As great as I remember—the movie, not the PC-88 game pictured

I oughta read the manga now since, fun as it is, the film feels like it's abridging a lot more Miyazaki wanted to tell

It's sad to know the story mode didn't get fleshed out as intended, but maybe there's still hope for a Mel-chan & Cotton series crossover.

Another unused pic from the blog implies a direct sequel adding a boy in similar working class garb. The Ghibli influences are clear enough!

But it could have had even more. These screenshots from the Namikaze blog indicate a larger story mode was planned. (Or I just haven't gotten far enough for them to appear, so play this & prove me wrong!)

Suffice to say, Idinaloq would deliver on a more story-heavy experience.

Here's the logo which gave me a hard time. I'd appreciate it if anyone could spot any odd artifacts hiding anywhere. Took a lot of Magic Wand-ing to extract this since I can't write data extractors for every game I cover.

Chests and combat victory lead to stat boosts and gold/cards respectively. Maps have midway checkpoints where you can heal and shop for better weapons/armor/items, some of which do things like discourage rivals from attacking you. There's even hidden bosses/chests to encounter!

Playable cast includes:

•Bashful elf Fori, exiled for loving a man, longing to return
•A coy Valkyrie fallen from Asgard, eager to ascend again
•Agnes and her captor, an abominable Black Knight made to obtain the Holy Grail

Each of them have unique end stages + the main 10.

You meet NPCs along the way, some of whom can also end your game via goal or combat. Losing a fight three times per round = Game Over; losing even once sends you back to your start!

It pays to be careful, predict your rivals' moves, and use lootable "block" cards in a pinch.

The "bone and flesh" part likely refers to the game's framing device, a very off-kilter title screen + fish telling you how to play. I don't know if this reappears in the remix version, but it's charming for sure.

Said fish doesn't seem to appear in-game, which is quite strange.
