The kitten episode as i said starts under heavy rain with her live on the line. Ito is also very thorough to describe how to take care of her...

Escaflowne also had nice small parts of the backgrounds turning into speedlines on this running scene.

Escaflowne was Kazuki Akane first series as a director and impressive feat.

This was done with care so it's difficult to point out animators.

Except for Hisashi Mori who was given away by his effect animation.

Thinking it over this is like a low-key version of a very similar scene on FLCL #4. Did Ogura repurposed it knowingly and push it to the max ?

Ayumi Shiraishi, probably one of the younger Gainax recruit, i got the most enthusiastic for.

She drew only 2 illustrations for the Gainax HP back in 2003 for Petite Princess Yucie (unofficial Princess Maker anime). Felt i would had her illustration for an Evangelion booklet.

Since i spoke of this one earlier, Hiroyuki Sasaki scene from the episode. Apparently it's confirmed from his doujinshi - might try to get it.

Akira Amemiya know deservedly famous for his series SSSS.Gridman, became key animator on this episode of Sugar Sugar Rune, on episode 8 he was still an inbetweener!!
