If you are attending #2021SVP, come check out my poster on #tyrannosaur feeding. Also check out the amazing artwork by @ChrisDPiazza that’s featured on my poster!
For #FossilFriday I’d like to spotlight paleoartist @ChrisDPiazza and his amazing artwork. The first being a #Guanlong pack being attacked by a #Sinraptor, and his artwork depicting a #mosasaur that was recently discovered in the Hell Creek Formation.
For #FossilFriday, here are a couple of FEA tests on the skulls of two small, early #tyrannosaurs, #Proceratosaurus and #Dilong. Special thanks to @RaulRamosArt and @Beast_SculptKit for sharing the 3D models! These models are also awesome!
For #FossilFriday, here’s #Proceratosaurus an early #tyrannosaur from the Middle Jurassic Period of England. Artwork by @SerpenIllus
To keep up with the recent #Tyrannosaurus trend, here’s Raptorex, a baby #tyrannosaur that me and Dr. Eric Snively of @OSUVertPaleo performed an FEA test on. I know Raptorex’ll turn into a large, power-walking tyrannosaur, but it’s too adorable! Look at that face!
For #FossilFriday, to coincide with #GodzillaVsKong, say hello to the real #Godzilla (sort of) and the creatures that inspired Godzilla’s design! First here’s Gojirasaurus, an early theropod dinosaur from the Triassic Period. Art by @paleofan. (1/3)
@Vert_Anatomist Nah, but there is a Gojirasaurus. Art by @paleofan.
For #FossilFriday, here are 2D (top row) and 3D (bottom row) FEA models of an adult #Tyrannosaurus (USNM 555000 of @NMNH), a juvenile Tyrannosaurus (@JaneTheRex or BMRP 2002.4.1 of @BurpeeMuseum), and the baby tyrannosaurid #Raptorex (LH PV1). 1/2
In addition to incorporating #tyrannosaurs for my thesis. I am also incorporating non-tyrannosaur theropods. Here are some of the #theropods that me and Eric Snively of @OSUVertPaleo worked on. 2D FEA models of #Spinosaurus, #Giganotosaurus, and #Tyrannosaurus. #FossilFriday.
However there is another aspect of pterosaurs that is understudied, the jaw musculature and feeding behavior of pterosaurs. There have been studies on the feeding behavior of pterosaurs, but never on the jaw musculature. Art by @MarkWitton.
