The Cimmerian #1: People of the Black Circle
Conan abducts Princess Yasmina. Writer Sylvain Runberg, adapted from a story by Robert E. Howard, Artist Jae Kwang Park, Colorist Hiroyuki Ooshima. One of Howard’s more complex tales, isn’t served as well as is should by the art. 3/5
Low #24
Salus rises into the light. Writer Rick Remender, Artist Greg Tocchini, Color Artist Dave McCaig. Remender teases utopia, and with only two issues left, much like the protagonist, I remain hopeful. Tocchini-McCaig’s vision is simultaneously dreamlike and nightmarish. 5/5
X-Force (2019) #8
Domino gets some big help from Colossus. Writer Benjamin Percy, Artist Jan Bazaldua, Colorist GURU-eFX. Percy treads a fine line between exploitation and gut-punching drama, that is saved by a heartfelt ending. 4/5
Seven Secrets #2
Young Caspar returns to The Order and begins to learn their ways. Writer Tom Taylor, Artist Daniele Di Nicuolo, Colorist Walter Baiamonte. Taylor takes a bold detour, for an illuminating, yet succinct, flashback, reinforcing last issue’s heartbreaking events. 4/5

Immortal Hulk (2018) #32
Xemnutm has altered everyone’s minds.. except Robert Banner’s? Writer Al Ewing, (MainStory) Artist Joe Bennett, Inkers Ruy José & Belardino Brabo, Colorist Paul Mounts (XemnuSequence) Artist-Colorist Javier Rodríguez. Pretty brilliant subtle satire. 4.5/5
Marauders (2019) #9
Emma Frost deals harshly with a spy in Krakoa. Writer Gerry Duggan, Artist Matteo Lolli, Colorist Edgar Delgado. Skillfully visualized telepathic interrogations are just one of this issue’s treats. 4.5/5
Tales to Astonish #83 (Sept.-1966)
The Hulk tries to protect Betty in "Less Than Monster, More than Man!" Script Stan Lee, Plot-Layouts Jack Kirby, Penciler-Inker Bill Everett. Some interesting character dynamic changes, but Everett’s precise, rigid style adds little depth. 3/5
Tales to Astonish #83 (Sept.-1966)
Namor attacks the submarine piloted by Warlord Krang with Lady Dorma seeking vengeance in "The Sub-Mariner Strikes!" Script Stan Lee, Plot-Penciler Jack Kirby, Inker Dick Ayers. A moderately entertaining, straight-forward auctioneer. 3/5
Dr. Strange (2019) #4
Surgeon Strange is targeted by dark magic. Writer Mark Waid, Artist Kev Walker, Colorists Java Tartaglia & Antonio Fabela. Waid-Walker’s novel approach opens up fresh, exciting stories like these. I love the stylized, hyper-detailed art. 4.5/5
