According to Sanjo in the Dai Fan Book, the jewel in Dai’s sword was supplied by Lon Beruk, and houses the sword’s consciousness. It’s not the same as the jewel that was in the Crown of Champions (source of the metal used to forge the sword), which was merely a decoration.
