Boggy '84!
Weirdly, the alphabetical run almost gave me two games in a row with the same object: collect keys.
It's an arcade chaser. You get a bonus if you get the keys in the order of B-O-G-G-Y-8-4. You can jump off springs or slide down slides. Enemies hone in on you.
Aleste Gaiden!
The last one, I think. It's another shmup, but this time you're a robot on foot throwing shurikens. You can jump to avoid bullets, so at least your defensive options aren't limited to having to weave around, but it's still a bullet-hell.
Who in their right mind would enjoy this type of difficulty? Do they dress their MSX in leather first?
This is a waste of my time. Not for me, NO! Pile, but I'll come back and try easy mode eventually.
@evercaderetro You can choose a loadout at the start of each run. I'm looking for a good one.
I keep choosing wrong.
Shit is tough.
See, can't stay awake. It's not on MSX. I just go through these spells where I sleep a ton. Usually I barely sleep at all to the point that it freaks people out.
So back to Aleste 2, and I can't figure out how to get the DSK files to run properly (I click it and nothing happens)
(lowers head)
Still, I'd think I'd do better than this.
It controls well! And uh.......... the graphics aren't as loud as the first. At least in this level.
Like the first game, this is just a straight-up bullet hell. Immediately the screen becomes completely spammed with enemies and leaves you with no room to maneuver.
I can dig a well made shmup, but bullet hells ain't my thing.
I gave overed and started over. I went through the first cave. After traveling through it, I instantly game overed despite having all my lives. What the FUCK WAS THAT?
I topped that effort by losing a life in about 1/10th a second after starting a stage. Well, that's a new IGC record that I don't even think is possible to be topped.
