56. Thor: Love & Thunder
Enjoyable.
Distinctly a Taika film, good laughs & tender moments.
Some choppy SFX but not as bad as Twitter says. It's biggest hurdle is Taika has to spend half the movie getting Thor back to who he was at the end of Ragnarok
Bale = solid villain
Just discovered these Peach Momoko Star Wars Adventures covers that I didn't know about 😍😍
Reading the Iceman Infinite comic by @LucianoVecchio, who has a really great understanding of the format and makes the continuous scroll method work really well for his style.
Have to say, this Iceman look absolutely rocks and I hope this costume sticks around beyond this series
My favourite moment of the issue was the scene where Wonder Man prays. Lovely character moment.
Im full on obsessed with the Ravager Thor look.
Classic Kirby boots, a 90s Thunderstrike influence with sprinkles of MCU GOTG and Ultimate Thor all tied together by his Hemsworthiness
Read Superman True Brit written by Kim Johnson & John Cleese (allegedly) with art by John Byrne & Mark Farmer.
It's not a good Elseworld by any stretch. A parody that goes so far it just becomes bad.
That said, did laugh at the 'Superman making the trains run on time' bit
Read the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire Defenders mini.
Not a patch on their Justice League work, and often far too overly verbose. The modern colouring didn't help Maguire either.
The running gag of Silver Surfer as a surfer was brilliant though. Had a lot more mileage in it.
54. Lightyear
Starts of as a generic sci-fi pastiche kids movie, but then there's quite a big twist that I didn't see coming.
Would I have enjoyed if it wasn't based off an existing IP? Maybe not. But I ended up having a lot of fun, the animation is great & I love the designs
