Really sad to see Bendis/Reis tenure on Superman come to an end as I've really enjoyed it. This Rafael Grampa variant for Action Comics is tasty af though
DC's December 2020 solicitations are largely underwhelming, but I think it's important to take stock of how lucky we are to have Brad Walker drawing the Bat-Family in Detective Comics, and Tomasi writing Damian Wayne.
Last night I read the first volume of @GailSimone run on the New 52 Batgirl title.
She writes Babs as someone that cenjoys being Batgirl, but also who is hesitant about being back in the role & has some unresolved trauma.
The bit upper arm strength was a nice touch.
I really like the concept of Mr Whisper as a villain, and how much he scares the Gotham gangsters in a way Bruce wishes he could.
Whisper's introduction was a great sequence, and I love Bat's reaponse to beinf summoned to help the mobsters.
Finally, I think Burnett's choice to pair Batman up with Bekka (Orion's wife) was a stroke of genius, using her powers of adoration/love to explore Bruce's determination to his lonely crusade.
Some beautiful character work that results in a sad ending.
Then on the flipside, you get some epic cosmic Fourth World weirdness like this spread.
I've always liked Dustin Nguyen as an artist, but feel early Nguyen is a particularly good fit for this arc as he evokes a bit of Mignola's work on Cosmic Odyssey.
Just read Superman/Batman: Torment by Alan Burnett and Dustin Nguyen.
It's a shame these guys weren't on for more than an arc, because whilst mostly focused on Batman as Superman is mind controlled they make a fun & interesting story out of it.
Great covers throughout
Nemo of Finding Nemo fame.
Didn't quite come out how I planned but what can you do. Inks and a variety of markers.
