And talking of George Perez's incredible artwork, this is one of the greatest Superman entrances.
Wonder Woman has some great costumes and Uncle Sam gets the Green Lantern ring and Carlos Paecho draws the hell out of it. Awesome right? So far, yes.
Loeb & Turner are in perfect creative harmony when Superman has to cut loose.
Loeb's plot is emotionally raw for Clark and he shows a range of fiery emotions and has to get physical. Turner keeps Supes pure by showing the emotions i.e regret, sadness & reflection in his face.
This is a great spread. Turner's Batman holding a battle axe starring down an army of Doomsdays? Chef's. Kiss.
I have mixed feelings of Turner's Supergirl. She's certainly over sexualised which can be a bit uncomfortable, but it is how many teens dress.
Turner does a great job with her face and overly expessive eyes. These pages show bewilderment, longing and joy, all in her eyes.
Today i re-read Superman/Batman: Supegirl.
It's not as good as Public Enemies and it is dated, but for the most part I like it.
For starters, in the first chapter Jeph Loeb mamages to work in some of that nice Clark/Bruce banter and Michael Turner draws a boss-ass Batman.
The arc had some brilliant McGuinness covers.
Issue 2 is unconvential, foreboding and has a great reflection..
Issue 5 is a great line-up of both families. Love that Nightwing is in the middle as he's a Bat character who got his name from Superman.
Gorgeous logo & trade dress.
And then it all boils down to an epic Superman/Luthor fight, and the end of the Luthor presidency.
SO. DAMN. GOOD.
I liked the inclusion of Future Superman, and Ed McGuinness draws the hell out of the action.
Kingdom Come Superman threatening Batman with a 66 Batmobile will never not be immesely cool shit.
