Goku’s version of Ultra Instinct isn’t the only play on Bruce Lee’s concept of Combining the Yin with the Yang or Ego with No Mind in Martial Arts based media, Street Fighter did this as well Through Ryu combining Akuma’s “Killing Intent” (Ego) with the Power of Nothingness (no… https://t.co/5SXf3U0nN2
“Never Trust Anyone” not even yourself! The way Dragon Ball implemented Frieza destroying part of himself and growing through independence was Genius. I also love that he’s “Anti” Trust when Trust is the theme of U7.
I find it ridiculously funny that Krillin is based on one of the most important characters in the entirety of Chinese mythology but to the Dragon Ball fandom he’s just “Goku’s friend”😂
What is Enlightenment in Dragon Ball? Zamasu mentions the goal of mortal development in dragon ball is Enlightenment which is the final stage of Budo, what Master Roshi taught Goku, but also what was imprinted into Goku’s nature by his Grandpa. Goku is Enlightenment in DB. https://t.co/aiW5yaxOHe

And so Goku ends up playing the role of the monkey kings master by the End of Z teaching Uub to control his violent impulses and guiding him on his path as a martial artist eventually leading Uub to becoming his successor and the next protector of earth.
Buu being “squished” by the spirit bomb and then reincarnated is a direct play on the process the immortal monkey king went through in order to be docile enough to learn the principals of Buddhism via being “squished” and trapped by Buddha’s palm
Buu invading the Kaio realm is a direct reference to the monkey king invading heaven which like I stated before their goal is to develop other beings in JTTW’s heaven. The Monkey King was a pure force of animalistic destruction exactly like kid buu.
The Kai serve the same role as the intended purpose of Buddha and Heaven and that is to develop Demons/Humans conduct. Buu like the monkey king becomes devoted to “Buudhism” through developing compassion for other beings outside of himself after absorbing a Buddha like kai.
Buu believe it or not as a character is HEAVILY inspired by the tale of the monkey king and his Journey to learn the principals of Buddhism. The first major example of this is the fact that he was born of an egg that required energy, and sealed away exactly like the monkey king.
