In this scene in Dragon Ball Infinity, we have a collision of 2 completely different mythologies with suspiciously similar story elements. Tehuti or Thoth was taught mysterious knowledge that lead to the fountain of youth. The monkey king consumed the elixir of immortality.
Piccolo’s ideas of survival had such a huge impact on Gohan that he still studies Charles Darwin and Evolution-Survival of the fittest even in his adult life. It’s funny that piccolo doesn’t understand Gohan is still studying what he taught him just at a scientific level.
This scene single-handedly inspired most of Dragon Ball Z. From Gohan’s Rage,Bardocks reaction to his fallen comrades, to Super Saiyan itself. When the monkey king was consumed by rage he was completely unstoppable. https://t.co/NtrldadKNf
2 of my Favorite Narrative themes in Dragon Ball,JTTW and media in general is the idea of Duality and Balance. Due to the fact that balance is something that must be maintained Dragon Ball plays on this consistently and it does It very well.
When the old kai is freed from the Z sword he mentions he was sealed away out of fear of his ability to draw out the hidden abilities of fighters FAR BEYOND their normal limits. BEERUS was afraid of this ability of all people. That tells how serious this is.
I know people compare Gohan beasts massive hair to young ssj2 Gohan allot, but honestly it reminds me allot of Goku’s hair in Grade 3.
Toriyama loves to play opposites when it comes to referencing JTTW. When Son Wukong was born of the earth his presence is discovered in heaven. Goku is born of the “Heavens” (space) and discovered on earth. Pretty cool.
I love Goku’s Dragon Fist. To me it’s highlighting that Goku is a symbol of karmic justice much like the dragon balls themselves but in Goku’s case he himself is a trial that villains go through when they use them.
