The 1st page - Sue at the desk with all the negative space - and the DPS of the FF going into battle against Fin Fang Foom are both amazing artistically.
One reason I didn't love the run originally though is because it is, for the most part, a downer, right from page one.
Time for another Fantastic Four binge thread!
Continuing in order, I'm up to James Robinson's and Leonard Kirk's run.
I remember I didn't love it when it was serialized, but I enjoyed it a lot more this time around.
Covers weren't great though.
Doom becomes the Annihilating Conqueror, but that's all part of the plan as Darla immediately robs him of the extra power, and Scott shows up to finish the job. It's so good seeing the plan come together.
A little in-joke about how Fraction has left the book on the milk carton here.
It's not a grand plot or character arc that makes this book great. It's details and moments of humor and joy.
Another one I totally assumed was Fraction that might have actually been Lee Allred. I love the messed up imaginary man-shark.
Fraction and Allred's take on Maximus The Mad is terrific and makes me really curious what Inhumans by Fraction would have been like if he and Marvel hadn't fallen out over it.
Gonna have to go back and read that era of Inhumans comics again sometime.
The alien that keeps Julius Caesar's body alive crosses over from his appearance in the core series to help the FF rescue the F4 from another dimension, and uses an invitation to a pool party as a ruse to meet them.
Wait, doesn't the FF have their own pool? Whatever. Comics.
Is this the best cover of the series?
Probably.
Not enough comics do beach party/baseball/swimsuit issues anymore.
