Absolutely beautiful work from one of our Y13 A Level Fine Art students last year for her personal investigation project. The large portrait on canvas is 1.5m across, and the use of colour and handling of light and shadows is stunning!
Thanks so much for the positive comments, likes & RTs of my #drawingaugust iPad scribbles this yr. I’ve really enjoyed basing them on 31 of my favourite places in Northumberland where I live. I’ve also loved seeing people share their drawings this month-so many amazing artists!
Day 5 #drawingaugust
Thought I’d draw some trees today, and decided that the beautiful Thrunton Woods in Northumberland, would be perfect for this. A couple of hours later and I’m done-it’s very scribbly close up,as I’ve discovered that trees are actually very tricky to draw!
All of our GCSE and A Level external moderation visits are done for this year-phew! Now it’s time for some fun…🤣
@PaulWat5 One of the things we do is a whole school ‘Big Read’ week, where all depts create tasks, challenges and events linked to reading. In Art for example, our Y7s read and annotated extracts about bees and made clay tiles in response to show their understanding. Here are a few pics📚
@ms_williams100 @infinitypie_edu @AnneQuinton @artteachjess @Jobaker9 @DebHepplestone @Artology It’s so tricky isn’t it. We have 1 hr lessons, but as our school is on a massive site, it means that by the time everyone is in the room, we get a max of 40 mins working time. When we use clay, my students have to work so fast!
@artteachjess @Jobaker9 @DebHepplestone @Artology @ms_williams100 @AnneQuinton Do you have an idea of what techniques and materials you’d like to use? I’d definitely start with some photography, exploring composition, lighting etc. I’ve used simple objects such as marshmallows with my students-these pics would make lovely paintings/mixed media pieces too.
Just signed up to Sketchbook Circle 2022-my 9th year! It’s such a brilliant opportunity to collaborate with others and enables you to dedicate time each month to create art for yourself. Link to my digital collaboration this year-I'd highly recommend it😀

Final tweaks made to this Y8 mini project for our whole school ‘Big Read’ next wk. As part of their ‘Our Town’ project, students will read poems about Cramlington by local people, and create mixed media & digital illustrated pieces in response to what they’ve read #culturalcapital
Thank you @astro_timpeake for a brilliant show tonight in Newcastle. Informative, entertaining, inspirational and some truly stunning images and film footage to illustrate your journey to space. Would highly recommend it!
