Just finished making a couple of teacher examples for our Y7 art club-large A2 chalk pastel and A3 oil pastel drawings of insects. Thanks to for the inspiration👍

Day 23
My drawing today is of these beautiful ripe plum tomatoes which have been enjoying some sun in my greenhouse today. It was a bit of a challenge adding the highlights to make the skin look shiny and glossy.

Day 17
Decided to draw some of the lovely peas in my garden today. They taste so good that they rarely make it into the house 😋

Day 15
Today I decided to draw this aubergine plant-the flowers & fruit are such beautiful colours! I’ve added pics of my drawing as it progressed-from initial scribbly sketch through to completion.I start off with fairly flat areas of colour, then add detail 😊

Day 7
My drawing from the garden today is this beautiful frilly Lollo Rossa lettuce. I’ve been faffing with this drawing now for the past hour-so many wiggly lines remind me of contour lines on a map.

Oh I really love this idea! I use matchboxes at every opportunity and have used them lots of times for observation drawing lessons like this linked to positive & negative space and the work of Morandi.

Powder paints are massively underrated. They’re so much better than ready mix as students can mix colours with much greater control, and mix to a lovely thick consistency or used like watercolour. We use a cool and warm version of the 3 primary colours. Here’s a few pics 🙂

We do a whole school ‘Big Read’ for 1 week each year, and all depts run reading related lessons. In art we try to raise awareness of the different ways you can ‘read’ a book in Art, as it can be a very different experience to say an English lesson. Here are a few KS3 pics 😊

Fab Y10 Photography lesson with our PGCE student. Despite being in an English classroom, we’re managing to ensure that students have opportunities to take as many photo shoots as possible. Even if this means carting several house loads of Christmas decorations across the site😂
