Today is the 98th anniversary of the birth of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. HRH has two grants in the Lyon Register, the first from 1948 and the second from 1949.

The Lord Lyon gave three lectures on the Melbourne leg of his Tour sponsored by the Australian Heraldry Society and Scottish Australian Heritage Council: the final lecture was "Hats and Tassels - an explanation of Church Heraldry".

Lyon's Lecture Tour of Australia is jointly sponsored by the Australian Heraldry Society and the Scottish Australian Heritage Council. It continues today in Melbourne and will conclude with Scottish Week in Sydney.

Lyon was hosted in Adelaide by a  former Vice President of the Australian Heraldry Society, Dr Richard Num who is a Scottish armiger.

The Lord Lyon is departing for Australia as the guest of the Australian Heraldry Society to give a series of three lectures in four cities. The lecture titles are “The Eight-Pointed Cross “, “Signs of Faith “ and “Illustrated by Symbols”.

The Scottish Samurai Awards which promote Japanese Scottish relations took place in Broomhall, home of the Bruce Family. The Lord Lyon presented an award to the former Chief Herald of Canada, Mr Robert Watt LVO.

The Lord Lyon delivered a lecture on the 7th May in the City Chambers Dundee on “The Heraldic Papers of Dennis Collins WS”, a local solicitor with a lifelong interest in heraldry whose collection of papers spans 60 years.
