This made me gasp, hit pause and do a double take.
Wait, WHAT...? Did she just..?!?

That has all the romantic feelings and heartbreak in it, but also the yearning, aching, longing - *desire* expressed as directly as it can be said in a show with this rating.

Catra & Adora had "only" been best friends in the Fright Zone, and while they both had deeper feelings I somehow always thought that Catra had been more aware of it somehow...

I have been saying this and for once my headcanon has been confirmed:

They had these deep feelings but had not dated or kissed or "been together" as more than friends. Their reactions & dialogue in S5 make it clear.

Adding one detail to this because my mind is jumping all over the place, but:
Re: 9/20 above, Catra is straddling Adora; we see her knee on the left. But seconds later she's at Adora's side. Maybe Catra suddenly got shy of straddling Adora in public...

And how obvious it now seems that in S1E11, Adora was clearly missing not only Catra but their physical closeness & rough-and-tumble ways of touching. In the "Hey, I missed you too" scene she tried to get back to what they had had & evoke a familiar response in Catra.

Catra jabs Adora lightly with her elbow, for *No Other Reason At All* than just to get her attention back while she's actually talking to SW ("Yes, Shadow Weaver"). (She also gets another affectionate smile, oh my god they are both so OBVIOUS)

Adora smiles fondly through the ration bar mush (can we say "hopelessly but obliviously in love") and wipes it away... Then Shadow Weaver appears and asks Adora to come with her.

Kyle drops the ration cake; A & C start to get up, but naturally they have already intertwined their fingers...
Adora sees 'Mara' written on the cake right before Catra puts a hand on her shoulder again, and smashes some cake on Adora's cheek.

Catra gets away and Adora backs away, rising her arms in smug surrender & fully expecting Catra to retaliate. Catra pounces on her and they end up on the floor, Catra pinning Adora to the floor, Adora laughing.
