Fun fact: When it came to designing the uniforms featured in Mobile Suit #Gundam, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko pulled from an eclectic set of influences. But he didn't rely exclusively on historical precedents; he also "tried to add some fun touches."

Yasuhiko was given a surprising amount of creative freedom. He remembers that the network “was becoming lax with their inspections.” Tomino insisted that the characters look like “normal people, in a normal world.” But sans that expectation, he could do what he wanted.
