The faces and landscapes in the art of Maya Kulenovic seem to part of the same thing - Memory.
Kulenovic uses glazes and "destructive techniques" in her painting - the result is a melancholy meditation on impermanence. Beautiful.

The Sick Child by Edvard Munch records a moment before the death of his older sister Johanne Sophie (1862 - 1877) from TB at 15. Munch returned to this traumatic event again and again, completing six oil paintings and many studies and prints over a period of more than 40 years.

After WW1, Arturo Nathan (1891-1944) suffered severe war trauma and he began painting on the advice of his psychiatrist. In WW2 he was labelled a prisoner of Jewish decent, by the Nazis & was deported to Biberach concentration camp in Germany where he died.
