The faces and landscapes in the art of Maya Kulenovic seem to part of the same thing - Memory.
Kulenovic uses glazes and "destructive techniques" in her painting - the result is a melancholy meditation on impermanence. Beautiful.

Pt.2. The Sick Child by Edvard Munch. The days before the death of the artist's sister painted, drawn and printed again and again over 40 years.

The Sick Child by Edvard Munch records a moment before the death of his older sister Johanne Sophie (1862 - 1877) from TB at 15. Munch returned to this traumatic event again and again, completing six oil paintings and many studies and prints over a period of more than 40 years.

The problem of burning for eternity in Hell - is a theological conundrum created by Christianity. In Judaism hell was lack of life, a body burned to nothing. The Christian hell creates technical problems - how can a body burn forever without being re-made for daily re-punishment?

Adonis - the mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite in Greek mythology - is said to have been born from a myrrh tree after his mother Myrrha was turned into one. According to the first (or second) century author Pseudo-Apollodorus.

After WW1, Arturo Nathan (1891-1944) suffered severe war trauma and he began painting on the advice of his psychiatrist. In WW2 he was labelled a prisoner of Jewish decent, by the Nazis & was deported to Biberach concentration camp in Germany where he died.
