@MrEagletonIan @OliverSlt @thebookseller @fionanoblebooks @OwletPress I not sure what mine would be. I'm torn...
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is BACK!!! today it's the marvellous Fritz Wegner, with his colourful & witty characters. This is from "Jack the Giant Killer" (Joseph Jacobs, 1970), one of a fine Bodley Head fairy tale series. Wegner's illustrations are wonderfully imagined & drawn.
@andtheHare I didn't know that. As if its possible to admire you more...!!! (and I'm so pleased for you xxx)
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is by Robert Lumley for "The Three Billy-Goats Gruff" (Vera Southgate, 1968). A beloved Ladybird "Well-Loved Tale", I was rather scared of this troll, when very young, while at the same time loving the Scandinavian landscapes. #nostalgia
@JustLikeUsUK @WorldBookDayUK I'd have been glad for anything! Which is why I now show Lgbt+ characters in my illustrations...
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is for "Gaspard's Foxtrot" published TODAY by @graffeg_books. Bravo to @zebsoanes on another wonderful foxy tale, & to @dovecomposer who has set the story magnificently to music. Here's a Hitchcockian cameo with me, Toto & Diva! 🌈 Happy #WorldBookDay!
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is by Arnold Lobel for "Mouse Soup" (1977). Adorable tales, with the warmest, *kindest* illustrations imaginable, lovingly drawn, tenderly coloured, full of charm and heart. Who doesn't want to just sit quietly by the fire with a good book, and eat peas?
#BookIllustratonOfTheDay is a tribute to the mighty Victor Ambrus, who died yesterday. One of the great illustrators, this Hungarian emigre was a magnificent draughtsman. One of the kindest & gentlest people I’ve ever met. This is from his “King Arthur” (Riordan 1982). Farewell!
It's valentine's day! sing your rainbow! #loveislove @MrEagletonIan @MrTotoMartinez @OwletPress
