Even mind controlled and uncoordinated, Robin is still formidable enough to take down Green Lantern (who admittedly is holding back).
I like that in their first battle, Dick manages to get a Gordanian staff and take down three of them. Also find it hilarious that Grant Wilson had the bad luck to bring a wounded Starfire back to his apartment, drawing both the Gordanians and Titans there.
His decision to drop out created tension between him and Batman, partially because he was studying business to one day take over Wayne Enterprises, as Bruce's sole heir. Dick sees the potential in a new Titans to prove himself (something he grappled with in the 70s).
