The problem is the book seems to genuinely want to have Dick be this lighthearted, fun spy, but also show that all this spy stuff really weighs on Dick. I don't think it does a good enough job at showing that, which is why fans think this book is how Dick actually is.

Been re-reading Bronze Age Dick Grayson/Robin stories, and man, I really want Waid/Mora to do Robin in college backup stories in World's Finest.

Just tell some new stories in that era with Mora's art. It'd be great.

Mora also keeps the trunks in flashbacks to a younger Dick Grayson. Which works for me because in the 40s Robin's costume had the shorts to further emphasize his youth. Young boys wore shorts, and wore trousers as they got older. And it's reminiscent of circus performer costumes.

Tim Sale's art was perfect visual storytelling to convey Dick Grayson's loss and the parallels with Bruce in Dark Victory. He'll be missed.

I don't know why this is getting so much attention, but just so everyone knows, the Robin panel is from Robin Annual #4, a retelling of Dick's origin.

I am aware that Jason wore the same Robin costume as Dick. I also know which comics Dick appears in as Robin after Crisis.

Another funny thing is that Nightwing stabbed him in the eye with a moose bone once.

If I could re-write reality, there would have been two more stories with Dick as Batman before he went back to Nightwing: Court of Owls, followed by Rise of Raptor.

Dick dealing with the expectations of Bruce, the Court, and Raptor, and ultimately reaffirming his own path.

According to Action Comics #642, Dick Grayson was one of several candidates that could've been picked to be a Green Lantern, should Hal be incapacitated.
