Gwyneth Johnstone was born in Coltishall just outside Norwich. Her father was the painter Augustus John and her mother a musician. This view of sun-baked hills is probably from the country around the house she owned near Benidorm. 'Spanish Hills' watercolour and pencil drawing.

Okay so this one is technically a sunset…but, it’s still beautifully sunny in our eyes! Simply titled Sunset on East Coast, by Robert Leman, this makes us excited to sit in the sun. Which sunny piece of art has been your favourite? Are you looking forward to the sunshine?!

‘Somewhere over the rainbow’, was written especially for the 1939 film adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard Oz’ and sung by Judy Garland.

Our rainbow has been drawn by John Thirtle (1777-1839) and depicts a 'Rainbow Effect on the River, King Street, Norwich'.

Any budding (or developed) artist will know that much of their work is practice, practice, practice. Benedetto Gennari certainly knew this in the 17th-18th century, as seen in this drawing 'Studies of hands'. Beauty and artistry is there in the most everyday of things!

This is all about hats! This impressive headpiece was immortalised on canvas by Norwich School artist Joseph Clover (1779-1853). Perhaps he was more taken with the hat than the wearer, as this painting is simply titled 'Portrait of a Lady with Ostrich Plume Hat'.
