but like… he picks a fight with sonic as he’s about to stop eggman from digging up the paradox prism, which only makes him late joining the rest of his friends. bit of a dick move really.

@LeemerBean so perhaps the prism pieces function as portals into other dimensions / eras, otherwise known as the shatterspaces

@spidassfan maybe she was given the responsibility of waiting for someone like mario her whole life (perhaps by her parents or more specifically her father king toadstool, who in most depictions of the comics, manga and instructional manuals was actually shown to be alive.)

@spidassfan i don’t think its a retcon. mario and luigi were born in a land in the sky (presumably like most babies in the mario universe) and delivered to the mushroom kingdom TWICE (even in the original yoshi’s island which turned out to be a mistake)
