When I compare Neo-Precisionism to these pieces, the first big difference is that the old ones feel hand drawn while Neo-precisionism is digitally native. Since the vast majority of art is now digital, the hand drawn aspect makes Precisionism feel a bit outdated.
Fun fact: The name Seerlight comes the game Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Seer is a job class and Light is a type of armor. On the fandom page the description of a Seer reads “The magick of the Seer can decimate foes and mend wounded allies.
Yuumei even has a piece with a blue haired girl in a pink hoodie. It bears a bit of a resemblance to Seers pfp. Could there be a connection there?
On his Deviant Art page, Seer lists Yuumei as one of his fav artists. Looking thru Yuumeis work I can see the resemblance to Seers earlier work. It is very cool to someone inspired at first but then find their own unique path as well.
One thing I especially love when scrolling thru an artist's work is when I can trace the key moments in which the style they are known for emerges. If you track Seers insta, you can see his signature grids emerge first subtly in his piece Im Home but then fully in The Moon Thief
This response was eye opening to me bc I hadn't made the connection to the vaporwave/synthwave aesthetic. I understood nostalgia of the classic anime characters, but the colors and vibe took on a new depth for me after making the vaporwave connection.
Ms Tear has only just begun her journey so Im very excited to see what she has in store next. Im hoping for an animated piece soon and I cant wait to bid on her future work. Cheers 🍻
Ms Tear also adds deeper dimension to her work by captioning some of her works with poems. My fav is from the piece The Red Sheep. The poem reads:
From atop some garbage heap
There are crows calling
Even if my heart keeps on screaming like this
There’s no one there to hear it
Ms Tears great new drop Piece of Peace comes out as part of the @capsule_house comes out this thurs the 17th. When u mint u get a “chest” with 3 cards in it and Im hoping to pull this one. But there are many other great artists involved as well and Im excited to mint.
Altho the colors are much different, Ms Tears line work reminded me of Evangelion. The warrior girl vibe and interplanetary theme connect the two for me. It left me curious to see how an animated Ms Tear might look compared to E.
