I'd refer to Mr Bauchau's style as “dystopian retrofuture.” A type of parallel evolution that might have unfolded on a nearby planet. It reminds me of the medieval future setting of my favorite anime, Attack on Titan.
This gives Kolahon's work a 3D feeling that isnt present in the old style. In this way Kolahon's style is the evolution of a genre that fits beautifully within a tradition 1000s of years old.
All the objects in the piece are violently blasting in the same direction. There is more motion in this work than many animated pieces I own.
Usually I prefer animated work but what's amazing about Mr Aphisit is that some of his pieces feel fast and action packed even though they are still. Pieces like World Catcher explode off the canvas.
@capsule_house @seerlight @Kaejunni Final pieces in the puzzle!! LFG!!!
I think DigitalCarbine has reached an amazing level of mastery with his characters. I look forward to seeing more landscapes and backgrounds in the future. An animated cyberpunk dystopia movie in DC's style would be a cult classic just on aesthetic alone. Cheers 🍻
Rowdy Roddy Piper can see them and this cyborg alien is bursting out of his skin in order to come kill him for knowing the truth.
The first piece I saw by Aleha was Portal 2. I was enamored. This portal, although apocalyptic, gave me a sense of hope. Amongst the fire and chao around it, there seemed to be a way out. If only I could cross the threshold of that portal, I could escape the chaos surrounding me.
