A couple of sketch commissions from my signing at Interstellar Comics in Middlesbrough. With many apologies to everyone for my being unable to attend today. But don't start having a good time without me, I'll be there tomorrow!

I know it's not the same but it might make do. I did recently include the 7th (along with a few other Doctors) on this recent commission.

A sketch, from the almost forgotten days when hurricane force winds didn't whistle through the gap in the door and lift me several feet into the air every time I try to sit at the drawing board.

From my drawing board in 1958 to the present...the style may evolve but the subject matter remains constant.

It's vs today and there's a very obvious, you might say, legendary, playing connection.

'We are haunted by the ghosts of who we have been and the ghost of who we will become.' My latest piece (a better scan to follow.) Not entirely satisfied with this one. But, never mind. We move on...

Tonight it's v & a couple of superstars from an earlier age are worth a mention: Raich Carter played for Hull,1948-52 & managed Boro (slightly ignominiously),1963-66 & then the legend Wilf Mannion of Boro,1936-54, before £4,500 took him to Hull.

I've not seen that one! I've got a selection of contemporary sketches but this one's new to me. Never seen one coloured before. Boro traditionally wore white shirts, with blue polka dot facings(!) and blue shorts in the 1800s.

Thought you might enjoy seeing this one. I re-created Boro's first ever goal at Ayresome based on contemporary written descriptions. (Boro scored first but Sunderland went on to win 3-2)

It's v today & supporters of a certain vintage may recall the Royals rare distinction, in Boro's 1967 post-Christmas charge to promotion from Div 3, of leaving Ayresome unbeaten. Boro goals from John O'Rourke and Arthur Horsfield in a 2-2 draw.
