Sometimes I design ships. Most times I design how to design ships. Tweets not representative of employer or client policy. She/Her/Hers. @r-p-one on the blue.

I have no idea why this is happening to this hullform, I only know how to make it stop.

In 2009 I developed some OPV designs for NDP; a monohull, trimaran & pseudo-Ramform (not identical as it is patented). Some numbers from the 2010 RINA paper below. At slow speed the difference is marginal (both rounded up to 1MW. For 25 knots though… Needed GTs on an OPV! 7/9

Throw back to almost 20 years ago (!) and the motherships study I worked on with colleagues at and for UK MoD. My favourite was the 40 knot crane ship. Just because it was bonkers. 250 MW through 5 waterjets :D

I was very much inspired by this to design my own beanstalk (for Mars). Behold the year 2000 products of my undergrad spare time. I even did the sums. https://t.co/EyESEM2CR9

Yes - the standard container dimensions are actually really akward to work inside as they are a bit narrow. When I did a study for a frigate that could be entirely fitted out in TEU/FEU sized chunks (for dispersed manufacture & upgrading) I used a lot of open-sided spaceframes.

Of course, this is all very approximate - compartment permeability, tank loading levels, detail internal arrangement will all impact this, but that's effort beyond a public thread. It is worth noting that if the crack aft were actually a crack, we would get: 3/n

OF COURSE the Soviet robot has Kontakt ERA. OF COURSE it does.

I have found an acceptable representation of this concept :D

Yep! Complete with a possible refit with PAAMS, GWS-27 and Sea Eagle SL :D

What *has* to be a sneaky Starfury Thunderbolt homage for this rando ‘bot in IDW Transformers :D
