@EmilyGale @pamelahartbooks Around 11 years old I spent a lot of time immersed in The Land Behind the World, by Anne Spencer Parry (Australian fantasy author).
@Mat_at_Brookes @brookeseduclibs @OvendenLaura @GalwayMr @PaulWat5 @pam_smy @brennathummler @smithsmm Thanks for reminding me of this really original and rich graphic novel. I found it both a very gentle story and also very hard-hitting.
Weeks after reading Louisiana’s Way Home, Kate DiCamillo’s exquisite writing is still making my heart feel big physical feelings, and I also keep thinking about the possible immensity and closeness of holding someone’s hand.
@Mat_at_Brookes @TeresaCremin @jonnybid @_Reading_Rocks_ @brookeseduclibs @OvendenLaura @marygtroche @smithsmm @one_to_read @jack_m_brown @SarahCrossan @lucyRL47 I will read Moonrise too. I am waiting for these two verse novels to arrive, Hesse recommended by Mat!
@MissNCleveland Have a look at The Serpent’s Secret or The Wild Robot.
@ltrank I put up that photo to share a few wonderful children’s poetry books & verse novels, but am acutely aware that I don’t have enough #ownvoices by underrepresented communities in my collection - and there is so much to choose from! Here are a couple of books I ordered this morning.
@JennyHolderLiv Inside Out and Back Again, The Last Fifth Grade of Emerson Elementary, Sister Heart. #versenovels
@DiLeed @marygtroche @LiteracyIRL @rachdeburca @AnnaMMcQuinn @randomhousekids Reminds me that I’m waiting another couple of months for this preorder!
@EmmaValerio82 @_KnightsOf @MaryAliceEvans Also check out the fantastic The Serpent’s Secret, and Two Naomi’s. Both have first books out with more to come and they are fantastic!
@jack_m_brown @bcb567 @DiLeed @BednallJane @TeresaCremin @clpe1 @lindsay_odell @DamsonEd @RuthBakerLeask @Mat_at_Brookes @marygtroche @smithsmm @KSunray3 @cazzash @GalwayMr @nikkigamble @Joyisreading @HeartOTSchool @ILoveCopyright Thanks Jack, looking forward to hearing more about your reading. One great book not in that photo (because it is currently the Year 4 class read aloud - they are bursting with excitement about it) is the fun, action packed The Serpent’s Secret.
