Jacob de Gheyn II, Woman and Child looking at a Picture Book, c. 1600, Pen and wash on paper (Staatliche Museen, Berlin). A touching domestic scene, though I can't tell what they're actually doing.

Early Pieter de Hooch, a "kortegaardje".. The glass the man is holding is part of a drinking game. The glass has rings at regular intervals, if you could drink the beer so it reached the mark exactly you could pass on the glass, if not you had to keep drinking! Cheers!🥂

Superb Getty acquisition, "The Miracle of the Quails" by Jacopo Bassano, 1554. Commissioned by Domenico Priuli as a pendant to "Lazarus and the Rich Man," 1551, Cleveland Museum of Art. The painting has hardly been accessible to scholars and was never seen by the general public.
