20 Jun 1779 at Stono Ferry, SC. Gen Benjamin Lincoln leads 1400 men across the Ashley River & attacks the British rear guard under Lt Col John Maitland. Strong defenses and firm resistance drive back the rebels with over 300 casualties vs some 125 British.

20 Jun 1776 New York. Col Rufus Putnam directs the construction of a fort at the northern tip of the Island of New York (Manhattan). Ft Washington rose over 200 feet above the North (Hudson) River but had many deficiencies.
