#WriteAnime D5II: Induced chimeras are created by magical rituals and experimentation that is ethically dubious at its absolute sunniest, following the examples set by Fullmetal Alchemist. (Souls are the problem, but I'm not going into the nitty-gritty unless people are curious.)
#WriteAnime D29: Going with Naruto again, which probably has the most overblown illusion magic of any anime I encountered. From Mangekyō Sharingan shenanigans to the Infinite Tsukuyomi, genjutsu is no fucking joke.
#WriteAnime D12: Like @Shadewing I will always have a soft spot for Okabe Rintaro, AKA Okarin, AKA Hououin Kyouma (cue mad laughter). His science abilities aren’t actually on par with Kurisu’s grasp of theoretical physics (or even Daru’s coding prowess) but…
#WriteAnime D10II: And for all of its other moral quandaries and meditations, Parasyte is absolutely about adolescence giving way to adulthood. Series covers everything from awkward boners to slaying alien serial killers. All your standard coming of age stuff.
#WriteAnime D6: I would go with Senku Ishigami from Dr. Stone, and Bulma Briefs from DragonBall. Senku is precocious, patient, honest, and takes no shit. Bulma seems like a bubbly bimbo, but she has plenty of experience with violent aliens and she’s a tech prodigy.
@CHKnyght Hah, I considered Hange Zoë for my own team, but her odd... urges, toward her research subjects made me a little uneasy. She also wouldn't rest until she got the opportunity to vivisect one of the visitors regardless of whether they come in war or peace.
@mae_mckinnon @CinaedhVik Holy shit other people who have seen Ergo Proxy. MY PEOPLE. Loved this show so much. It left a lot of unanswered questions, but mercifully didn't end on a cliff-hanger, which is such a common fate for anime that never see renewal. (I see you, Alderamin on the Sky.)
@mae_mckinnon I always loved the general analog feel and sleek, space age profile of the Highwind from FFVII. Most airships featuring sails feel a little bit twee for me, but I love their gear work and other steampunk embellishments.
