On their factory racecar Mercedes use a water-to-air intercooler. Their customer teams choose to use an air-to-air intercooler
It passes the air through a heat exchanger, the coolant jacket around it cools the air & is then itself cooled down in a separate radiator in the sidepod
Other in-season developments, were detail strakes around the front end, a rear wing mainplane with a slotted underside fed by an inlet above it (thus making the 2 element RW a 3 element set up). Plus revised T-tray stays to react to the revised offset splitter deflection tests.
Early developments added fairings ahead of the side roll hoop inlets and larger cooling outlets near the revised exhausts.
