I wonder how many of those reacting to this, whether celebrating or decrying it, have actually played Ryza games? The content is very tame as it is. The artbooks show more (but not much) than the actual games. The headline appears to be somewhat exaggerated.

Chrono Trigger was released 28 years ago today in Japan. This game holds a special place in my heart with its unforgettable story, gameplay, art, & music. It's a masterpiece I often revisit. I still have my cart that I received for my birthday in '95.

The more localizers rightfully get flak for inserting jokes & worldviews into Japanese media the more you'll see the usual suspects pushing situations like this to give the impression that all changes are justified.

Translators aren't supposed to be storytellers, they exist to present the original creator's story accurately without inserting a bunch of nonsense that was never intended to be there. Anyone who thinks this way should be barred from the industry.

They always take the most outlandish examples to justify changes that aren't even remotely necessary. There's no untranslatable cultural reference present, it's just the typical localizers trying to "punch up" dialogue by including silly internet speak.

Reading has always been a fundamental part of JRPGs, especially prior to every game being expected to have voice acting, so it's perplexing to see people that don't enjoy reading claiming to be RPG fans.

Game journalists & their ilk don't understand the value of preserving old media with its original elements intact no matter how they are viewed by the standards of the modern era that seeks to sanitize anything that offends their fragile sensibilities.
