M is for moon, the most magic light of all.
Lucy & Tom From A to Z
I is for ill. This is Tom being ill in bed. He needs a lot of things to play with. Even then, he gets very hot and bored and keeps calling out for people to come and amuse him.
Lucy and Tom From A to Z
This week we’ll be looking at Lucy & Tom From A to Z; first published by Victor Gollancz and now available from Red Fox
But Bonting was nowhere to be seen! ‘We can’t leave Bonting behind,’ wailed Alfie ‘he’ll be all lonely on the beach at night!’
In the morning the first thing Alfie saw when he woke up was Bonting’s empty box and he felt sad.

This week we will be looking at Bonting.
One fine summer morning Alfie went out into the back garden to look around and he found a stone.
By the end of the day Alfie had decided that the stone had become a real friend and he called it Bonting.
Mr MacNally went downstairs and found a large sort of tap under the stairs and turned it off, just like that.
‘So that’s where it was,’ said Maureen.
An Evening At Alfie’s
‘It’s raining on the landing,’ Alfie told Maureen.
‘Hmm, looks like a burst pipe,’ said Maureen. A plumber was one of the things she wanted to be when she left school.
An Evening at Alfie’s
Alfie liked Maureen. She always read him a story when she came to baby-sit.
Alfie didn’t feel sleepy. For a long time all was quiet. Then he heard a funny noise outside on the landing.
An Evening at Alfie’s
This week we’re returning to An Evening at Alfie’s which is one of the most popular and joyously commented upon of Shirley’s stories.
Mrs MacNally’s Maureen had come to look after Alfie and Annie Rose while Mum and Dad went to a party.
