Alfie and Annie Rose had a Grandma. She drove about here and there in her little red car, and she often came to visit them.
‘By the way, sea gods can love humans sometimes, you know. Now and again - every thousand years or so. And when we do, we have very long memories. Goodbye, Valerie, till we meet again.’
A cloud came over the moon. When it passed, Cherubino was gone.

Valerie’s father owned one of the largest and most splendid hotels on the Italian coast. Valerie’s mother always took her there for a month in the summer. Somehow Valerie persuaded her mother to let Cherubino come too.

As soon as he was settled and could see Valerie every day, Cherubino’s health improved.

The next day when Valerie and Miss McKenzie arrived at the gardens, they found a small crowd gathered near the lake. The dolphin was there as usual. But the boy was gone.

Valerie’s favourite statue of all was a beautiful long-haired boy who rode on a dolphin. The boy looked back at her. She thought she saw a dancing spark in his carved eyes.

This week we will be escaping to look through the pages of Enchantment in the Garden. This longer story was inspired by holidays spent painting in Italy. 1/2
Ruby became as adventurous as they were. She slid over piles of rubble, see-sawed on fallen rafters and stood on half-destroyed walls. But one day Ruby missed her footing and fell…Then she felt a pair of strong arms around her. It was her dad! 1/2
From then on, everything at home changed. Ruby had to move into the little bedroom in the attic. Ruby had forgotten how very big Dad was, and what a lot of space he took up.
