A Parthian rhyton, or drinking vessel.

Produced c. 1st century BCE, it takes the form of a roaring lion leaping out of the silver rhyton. It is decorated with a gold mane and inlaid garnet eyes.

A Fayum mummy portrait of a girl from Roman Egypt, dated c. 120 - 150 CE.

Made from sycamore wood, it was produced in wax encaustic paint.

@BOUDICC88003310 Almost entirely, yes! So sad. It isn't known if it was destroyed by American bombs or German artillery, but once a fire started in the museum all that was left were the bronze and marble decorations.
