St. Onesimus (95)

He was a slave who escaped from his master, Philemon. He was converted and baptized by St. Paul who sent him back to his master, with his Epistle. Philemon pardoned him and Onesimus returned to St. Paul. Later, he became bishop and was martyred under Domitian.

St. Stephen, Proto-Martyr (36)

He was one of the seven deacons chosen by the Apostles to execute works of charity. He upbraided the chief priests and accused them of putting Christ to death just as their fathers had killed the prophets. They stoned him without further delay.
