I love the way the show adapted this scene, framing it so the audience couldn't tell if he had reached Mark yet, only to reveal him rehearsing his speech, then the little touch of the wind literally changing directions...so good

I feel like the show is a little too grounded for this to work, but I do love bits like this.

(It's funny that in the show, they even go as far as to say there was a whole second funeral to avoid exactly things like this)

It's very funny that because of the Rorschach gag, Darkblood is left with this eggshell white body suit he has to wear to make the joke work, which the show seemed to translate into...a hell..scuba suit?

This issue also represents a massive introduction to the book as a whole:

The Elephant! Mark's eternal arch-nemesis!!

(Oh, and Ryan Ottley becomes the main interior artist for the rest of the series run)

Oh i lied again! I think Amber may be my favorite thing the show changed! Her intro in the show is way more interesting and we learn so much more about her as a person, she's barely a character for her first few appearances in the comics and not much of one even after those.

I lied! My actual favorite change in the show is Damien Darkblood!
In the comics he's a Rorschach pastiche (as I think the gag is when viewed from behind, he can pass as him), where in the show they lean into the Hellboy/Etrigan angle which is way more fun!

Hands down my favorite change is having Nolan really have to work for this victory, whether it's because the Guardians are a more viable threat than they posed in the comics or because he's actively regretting his actions and secretly hoping they'll stop him.

Up until now the comics had been relatively tame in terms of violence so this was a big tipping of the hat (and only the tip of the iceberg), the show exists in a space where the comic was already infamous for its gore so it had to go even further with this sequence...it worked

In the comic we get a combo of Martian Man and Green Ghost II, which while cool, I think the shows choice tells us more about each of them, and I love that Martian Man is living out some 80s movie plot where he's befriended a human child.
