A little sad we didn't see Beefy Frank's in the show due to a minor beat later on. I assume that Best Wurst is the shows equivalent but we sadly never got to see Nolan and Mark actually go.
I do like that the comic Maulers had differentiating features like piercings and tattoos, but I can see how that maybe goes against the gimmick of the characters fighting over which of them is the original
Always tickled by this Superman Red Son easter egg in the background.
Enter the Teen Team, love Robots little hover bike with its side cars, very Fantasti-Car
Also loved that Cory used this opportunity in the show to design more cool aliens.
(Viltrumite space suits are also interesting to see...we don't really see those again, I believe)
Having said that...the show actually does this a little...it establishes its own visual motifs that it already seems to be playing with.
Also I love how idyllic show Viltrum looks, still clearly utilitarian but a bit more Krypton and a tad less Brutalist.
So one of the few things I'm sad that won't translate to the show is some of the visual motifs the comic establishes, these become more pronounced as the series goes on and some are played for comedic effect but man, I am a sucker for a good visual reference.
And that's issue #1!
I also think Mark's suit debut in the show is more grand but I can't really fault the comic for that, this issue already covers a lot of ground of setting up Mark's world and family dynamics as well as serving as a soft origin for him.
I also think it was smart to have Nolan be the one to give Mark his inspiration for his name rather than Principal Winslow, adds more weight to it imo.
