134. United States of Captain America by a lot of people (2022) - modernizes Cap while also showing the potential of the ideal in modern times. Loved the new Cap designs. Wonderful banter made me sad at what the movies could have been. Physique just on the right side of absurd.
129. The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen (2020) - reread for book club. Gorgeous art and great use of faerie tale stories. Beautiful family story that balances tragedy with joy and hopefulness.
Sassy Wonder Woman is the best Wonder Woman.
From Superman: Son of Kal-El v1 by Tom Taylor & John Timms
I don’t know if I’m smart enough or have the Britpop knowledge to follow Phonogram fully, but this cracked me up.
From Phonogram: Rue Britannia issue 5
42. Toshokan Senso (Library Wars book 1) by Hiro Arikawa (2006) - amateur translation sucks the life out of this previously fun set of characters. Stuck with more "history" and text feels repetitive. Wish there was a professional translation out there.
126. Magical Boy v1 by The Kao (2022) - subverts Magical Girl tropes, by making the main character a trans boy who doesn't want any of this nonsense. Confusing formatting of speech bubbles, but great illustrations and fun story w good representation.
119-120. Library Wars v14-15 by Kiiro Yumi (2014) - it's over 😭😭😭😭😭
Happy endings all around!
It took 12 issues, but they finally made my OG comic book boyfriend quippy. ☺️🥰
