Dark #nebulae are inmense clouds of gas without stars that are so near to create an emission or reflection nebula. They block the light and we can not see the stars behind.

After a supernova explosion the gas ejected may form a nebula called "supernova remnant" and could be one of the objects most beautiful in the heavens.

An emission #nebula is formed of ionized gases that emit light of various wavelengths. The most common source of ionization is high-energy ultraviolet photons emitted from a nearby hot star

The sun is a special stable star:
A recent study by Max Planck compared the sun with hundreds of other stars with similar rotation periods: Most displayed much stronger variations: https://t.co/YZAD8sxR6d

This is one of the nearest planetary nebulas: the Helix, 700 lightyears distant.
It’s an old #star loosing its external layers creating a nebula.
It is expected our #sun will create a planetary #nebula in 5000 million years aprox.

70.000 years ago, a small red dwarf star, “Scholz’s star”, moved near our Solar System, just only 1 lightyear far the Sun, causing a perturbation in the orbit of some objects of the Oort Cloud: https://t.co/bFuyeNiORF.
