You can tell Itano designed this week's kaiju since it has a similar triangular facial structure and that same Nagai energy as his contribution in Gridman (though this one's definitely dorkier)

Not that it was really in doubt but this episode casually confirms that the person holding the other ankh in the opening is Yume's sister, given that she was wearing that bracelet too

One stylistic change that stands out is dropping the powerlines that were all over Gridman. Sounds very specific, but Gridman had a major production role specifically for them, which were effective in triggering nostalgia for the shows that inspired it and made for neat framing

Looking forward to that DIY anime since it looks really cute, though hopefully the project overlap at Pinejam with that team doesn't cause a mess. The visual is a nice mix of classic fugo (thematic framing and style of painting, the attention to fabric) with more stylized faces

The animation itself is just serviceable (with nice Ayumi Nishihata handling animation designs tho!), if there's anything I'd highlight it would be 2DFX legend Toru Yoshida acting as Creature AD on the first episode - which makes sense since they're literally masses of effects
