Unpopular #DnD opinion: You shouldn't let characters long rest just because they run out of spells/features.
They are exploring a world using their 5 senses, not simply going from one raid to the next.
Unpopular #DnD opinion: I think that fudging dice to let a PC live is bad for the group.
The moment you do for one person, and the party has even a suspicion that you've done so, you are now playing favorites if anybody ever dies in game.
Cleric may be the most consistently good class throughout all editions of #DnD because they have all the benefits of spellcasters, but none of the drawbacks (e.g. they get armor, weapons, hit dice).

One of the cool things about #DnD is how they balance utility and damage. How do you determine how many damage dice is speaking with the dead worth? I'd say a mix of pop culture, traditional adventures and playtesting!
