Phylogeny is one of my favorite subjects. Well of course, I study it. But it also connects you to every species that has ever lived on Earth! I drew this vertebrate phylogeny in 2015 as an undergrad. It needs many updates... https://t.co/JW7e8Z1RRb #SciArtTweetStorm #SciArt
@franzanth @jopabinia @JaviPaleobio I've only made one serious attempt at a crab. All things considered, it went alright, I think. Animals that are squishy on the outside definitely tend to be much easier.
@R_Dart Ahh, a comment from you, clearly I've made it now! 🥰 I drew a Chrysalis years ago, but instead of being a "real" dinosaur the concept was that she was an insectoid maniraptoran mimic. But being a shapeshifter, she could be anything she wants!
@JacquelynGill I draw cartoons, often related to vertebrate paleontology (https://t.co/5AbBh3dDtz). I also write about fossil birds and their close relatives on my blog (https://t.co/wzf0jsDySx).
@Laelaps I draw cartoon birds, cartoon phylogenies, and sometimes cartoon-ponies-as-dinosaurs: https://t.co/1IL9HPNlA3
Finally found time to write about my experiences at #2019SVP: https://t.co/pO02XKd2P3
Are you interested in the tail feathers of "opposite birds"? Perhaps then you might also be interested in my latest blog post! Special thanks to @TheWoodParable and @DinosaurDrawing for letting me use their art. https://t.co/Y2j5AjZVfN (📷O'Connor et al.) #birds #dinosaurs
Sequiwaimanu, the most completely preserved Paleocene penguin found. Take a look at this skull! At about 61 million years old, it's also one of the oldest known penguins. (📷Mayr et al.)
It's not too late to do blog posts looking at the past year, right? Because I just made myself write a paragraph on each new (extinct) maniraptor named in 2018: https://t.co/tmOXfm9BOK #birds #dinosaurs (📷Xu et al., Hu et al., Li et al., Mayr et al.)
Okay, this is the most adorable figure I've seen in a scientific paper in a while. And oh my gosh is the hydra holding a dead copepod in one tentacle? (Graphical abstract from Atkinson et al., 2018 on myxozoans: https://t.co/LK20MufrH3)
