Dunbar Castle, East Lothian (Scotland) watercolour reconstructions from 1980's. A stronghold of the Dunbar family. Site defended by Black Agnes in 1338.

Fast Castle did reconstruction in 1987 followed corbel machicolations along as I thought it was a Hall block. But changed this when I found (in ruin painting) it led to part of a Keep which makes alot more defensive sense. So tweaked reconstruction.

Archibald Douglas fought at Poitiers for King John II. Archibald was captured by the English but a fellow captive Scot (Ramsay) said he was a Cook's boy in his Master armour & Archie was set free. Archibald returned to Scotland building Threave Castle & earned the name 'The Grim'

King Robert The Bruce costume design from Nigel Tranter's Bruce film project in 1990/91 (which was never made). Also Angus Macfadyen and Chris Pine as the Hero King.

Cistercian houses had a set Plan Dundrennan Abbey (Dumfries & Galloway) HS info board Newbattle (Dalkeith) watercolour 1991 and Alan Sorrell's great reconstruction of Melrose. For some reason Melrose was a backwards Plan. Even Byland in England followed the usual site Plan.

Was a big fan of https://t.co/Ri3lXVhs96 in the 70's. My comic book drawings from 1979 must have subconsciously influenced the Village Gala costumes designs that I made for myself and my Sons in 2011.

Battle of Arkinholm 1455 Red Douglas defeat Black Douglas forces. The Black Douglas's Brother the Earl of Moray killed & beheaded. His other Brother the Earl of Ormonde was wounded but brought back to good health to also be beheaded. Heads were presented to King James II of Scots

South Berwick Town walls. In 1400, Thomas Talbot with Percy's force fleeing to Castle had his banner stolen by the Scots as a trophy. Percy had his banner stolen in 1388 leading Otterburn. Where he tried to steal Douglas banner. (It's like they were playing a school yard game.)

As a boy I was amazed at the work of Alan Sorrell. His reconstruction of Dirleton was the first image of its kind I ever saw. So I copied his techinque of boxing views a section at a time. I used (8 pence) Postcard images in the 80's then scaled up to A3 size (Tantallon example).
