Several Scots lords were in league with the Armada and wanted to overthrow Elizabeth of England. Douglas of Tantallon, Hay of Slains, Gordon of Huntly, Maxwell of Caerlaverock. (MacLean of Duart used Armada troops to attacking Dunyvaig & Mingarry in a local dispute.)

Battle of Inverlochy Castle in 1431 MacDonalds against Earl of Mar & Earl of Atholl supporters of King James I of Scots. It was unclear who had won (MacDonalds won). Earl of Mar fled bare foot back to his Castle of Kildrummy.

Some Scottish Castle locations used in the filming of Netflix's (watercolour reconstruction suggestions of orginal medieval buildings) Blackness, Linlithgow, Craigmillar and Borthwick. The first three were also used as locations for

In 1388 Hotspur Percy was unhorsed at Newcastle & his banner stolen by Douglas. Hotspur attacked Camp to recover his banner. Douglas was stabbed by his own armour bearer then felled in the English charge. Hotspur was captured & his ransom monies used to rebuild Ardrossan Castle.

In 1443 Lord Crichton & Red Douglas of Tantallon set out from Crichton Castle to burn lands around Corstorphine & Boghall Castles as they were Black Douglas Vassal lands. Later Forrester of Corstorphine burnt Crichton Castle & Fleming of Boghall burnt crops at Tantallon in reply.

Fast Castle did reconstruction in 1987 followed corbel machicolations along as I thought it was a Hall block. But changed this when I found (in ruin painting) it led to part of a Keep which makes alot more defensive sense. So tweaked reconstruction.

Tantallon Castle (Scotland) In 1548 a French galley was sunk by English vessels. The Castle seagate gunners gave fire to drive off the English. Later on Mary Queen of Scot's French Mother visited the gunners giving them Drink Silver (Beer Money) as a thank you for trying to help.

It was sacked by the Red Douglas and Lord Crichton in 1443 but was never able to find anything for a reconstruction suggestion. Showed Forrester of Corstorphine shield taken as a trophy as army moved on to attack Abercon. There is a 1500's Dovecote which sat beside the Castle

Cistercian Houses of Newbattle (Dalkeith), Byland (Yorkshire) image/reconstruction & Melrose (Borders) Alan Sorrell's classic reconstruction. All followed a set Plan but Melrose, for some reason, was a mirrior image of Sister Houses throughout Scotland & England.
